With the launch of Runway API, developers can access its Gen-3 Alpha Turbo model for integration into various applications and products.

Applied AI research company, Runway introduced a new API for its advanced video models. This will allow developers to access its Gen-3 Alpha Turbo model and integrate it into various applications and products.
Strategic partners such as Omnicom are already utilizing the Gen-3 Alpha Turbo API, demonstrating its readiness for enterprise-level applications. Runway is taking a phased approach for a seamless integration process for all users.
According to the company, “Currently, we are granting access to select partners, primarily focusing on large teams and organizations looking to incorporate Runway’s API into their products and services. This initial phase allows us to work closely with these partners, gathering valuable feedback and refining our offering.”
Runway aims to make wider releases in the upcoming weeks, which will gradually open up access to everyone.
Plans and Pricing
The new API comes with two primary plans – “Enterprise,” which is intended for larger organizations looking to integrate the technology into consumer-facing products. “Build,” which is aimed at individuals and teams looking to integrate video generation into internal projects.
The starting price is one cent per credit to access the API, meaning that each second of the video will cost five credits. Videos with a maximum duration of 10 seconds can be produced using the Gen-3 Alpha Turbo model for 50 cents.
Making Video Generative AI Video Models Accessible
With the release of its API, Runway makes itself one of the first AI companies to offer a video generation model via an API. It occurs in the midst of heightened rivalry during the past 12 months in the generative video market.

Tech giants like Google, Adobe, and OpenAI are all working on their own models for creating videos. OpenAI’s Sora is scheduled to make its debut this fall. Other startups such as Pika and Luma Labs, are also gaining pace in the field.
Runway aims to make the Gen-3 Alpha Turbo model more widely accessible through its API release, making it more widely adopted. It was formerly exclusively accessible via the Runway platform.
Runway has been leading the way in AI media since 2018, making sure that everyone can access, control, and benefit from content creation in the future.
