MLSoC™ Modalix supports CNNs, LLMs, Transformers, LMMs and Gen AI at the edge while delivering industry-leading performance.

The development of Generative AI (GenAI) is changing the nature of human-machine collaboration. The next AI technological revolution will bring about multi-modal machines that can comprehend and handle text, images, audio, and visual inputs.
A step ahead towards this, SiMa.ai, the software-centric, embedded edge machine learning system-on-chip (MLSoC) company, launched the industry’s first multi-modal edge AI product family, MLSoC™ Modalix.
This system-on-chip platform is specifically designed to handle multimodal AI workloads at the embedded edge. It supports CNNs, LLMs, Transformers, LMMs and Gen AI at the edge while delivering industry-leading performance, over 10X the performance per watt of alternatives.
SiMa.ai claims that with today’s launch, it can significantly reduce latency for a variety of AI applications in industrial robots and other edge computing devices. With MLSoC Modalix, developers will be able to achieve unprecedented performance across a broad range of applications while maintaining a modest power envelope and physical footprint.
With only one chip, they can also run whole GenAI application pipelines and make quantifiable improvements to the top and bottom lines of businesses.
According to the company, AI has already significantly changed how people interact with machines, enabling cutting-edge applications in autonomous vehicles, drones, weather stations, warehouses, and factory floors, among other places. However, compared to the models it is aiming for with its most recent processor, the majority of these edge applications operate on significantly smaller models.
What is SiMa.ai MLSoC Modalix?
SiMa.ai MLSoC Modalix is the second generation of the successful and commercially deployed first-generation MLSoC. It is available in 25 (Modalix 25 or “M25”), 50 (Modalix 50 or “M50”), 100 (Modalix 100 or “M100”), and 200 (Modalix 200 or “M200”) TOPS configurations, in several form factors, and is purpose-built to facilitate easy deployment of GenAI for the embedded edge machine learning market.
The MLSoC Modalix product series is fully software-compatible with first-generation MLSoC and was built to run DNNs as well as advanced Transformer models such as LLMs, LMMs, and Generative AI. Customers will have a sample of MLSoC Modalix in the fourth quarter of 2024.
SiMa.ai founder and Chief Executive Krishna Rangasayee said, “With the introduction of MLSoC Modalix, SiMa.ai now provides coverage from convolutional neural networks to generative AI and everything in between, with industry-leading performance and power efficiency.”
